The Holt Pelvic Health
Doula Difference
Dr. Jen has undergone training through the programs of Spinning BabiesⓇ and Dynamic Body Balancing to help better understand fascia and how mom and baby can work together beautifully during birth. Dr. Jen’s background in pelvic floor therapy helps her to better understand the anatomy and biomechanics of the pelvis to help better support you through labor and birth positions and pain management techniques. She believes a woman’s body was created to birth, regardless of the outcome, and that she can be empowered and supported even when things don’t go as planned. Birth doula support is truly her calling and is her favorite role that she serves in.
What is a doula?
A doula is a support person who provides continuous physical, emotional, and educational support to help you feel informed, prepared, and empowered throughout your pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey. birth doula FAQs
Are you available for my due date?
I take one doula client per month, so it’s always best to reach out early. Fill out the contact form to see if I’m available.
What if I’m planning on delivering at the hospital?
I support births in any setting: home, birth center, or hospital. I’m very comfortable in all settings.
Does a doula deliver babies?
No, a doula provides support to the parents through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Your OB/GYN or midwife will deliver your baby.
Should I hire a doula if I want to get an epidural?
Yes! A doula is a helpful person to have on your team to assist with movement and positioning techniques to help labor continue to progress along.
What if I know I’m planning on a cesarean delivery?
In most cases, a doula can still support you even in the operating room, making the experience more comfortable and calm. The only time a doula may not be present in the operating room is if the provider says otherwise or in an emergent cesarean delivery.
Will you travel to my area?
I provide in-person doula services within the DFW metroplex, but feel free to reach out via the contact form if you’d like to connect about virtual support!
